State Government Goes Online
Official State Home Page Unveiled at Press Conference Today
NASHVILLE - (APRIL 10, 2001) - The State of Tennessee just got a new look. Government officials today launched the official website for the State of Tennessee, www.TennesseeAnytime.org, and a host of new applications designed to make transacting with government easier. "I am pleased to report that today, state government is open for business 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year," reported Governor Don Sundquist.
In unveiling the site, Chief Information Officer (CIO), Bradley Dugger stated, "Over time, by making more services and records available on line, we will be creating a more efficient and effective state government."
The state home page will allow for one stop access to government. In addition to state government information, links will allow Tennesseans to access local and federal information. The site will highlight online applications that make it easier for citizens - like renewing your driver license online or checking on the status of a Child Support Payment - to access government. It will allow businesses and professionals to get to information they need; from Corporation Searches to TennCare Eligibility Verification in one simple click.
"The new site is not just about a face lift, " commented Lou Kompare, Director of the Center for Effective Government. "This site and the future are about putting applications online that help citizens and businesses interact with their government. It's about making government more responsive and accessible."
"Not only that," furthered Jan Sylvis, Director of Accounts, "it's about making government more efficient. This efficiency will ultimately mean savings for all Tennesseans."
The official TennesseeAnytime Web site was unveiled at a press conference today, April 10, 2001, at the Multimedia Room of the Tennessee Towers. In addition to Mr. Dugger, Mr. Kompare and Ms. Sylvis presentations, Secretary of State Riley Darnell revealed the Online Corporation Searches application. Commissioner Natasha Metcalf presented the Child Support System application and Deputy Commissioner Mark Reynolds unveiled the TennCare Eligibility Verification application.
TennesseeAnytime will be managed by National Information Consortium (NIC), one of the world's most experienced e-government solutions providers, at no cost to the state. Additional government services will continue to be placed online.
