ABOUT THIS SEARCH:

This search is a containing search. It will find words or parts of words that are contained within the business name.


This search will also search by Secretary of State Control number

•
 A “Secretary of State Control Number” consists of seven digits , beginning with at least one zero (for example: 0123456). This type of control number is assigned to every corporation, limited liability company, and limited partnership formed or qualified in Tennessee, as well as to any recorded assumed names for such business.
•
 Reserved and registered business names do not have a Secretary of State control number.
•
 The control numbers for limited liability partnerships are identified by the letters LLP followed by four digits (for example: LLP001). This online database is not searchable by LLP control numbers; most LLP business information is NOT available from this online database, but may be obtained by contacting the Division of Business Services at (615)741-4535


INSTRUCTIONS:

 To search, type in the name or a partial name. (For example: Typing “smi” could produce search results containing “Smiley,” “Smith,” “Besmirch,” etc.)
•
 Searches for business names containing specific words may increase processing time and the system may not return results in a timely manner if the search criteria is too broad.
•
 There are no fees associated with checking business information.
•
 When you enter a business entity name or Secretary of State Control number and click the search button, you will receive business names that match your search criteria along with business id number, type and status.
 
•
 Select “Details” to view additional information including address, entity creation date, profit/nonprofit, entity status, domestic/foreign, place of incorporation, duration, FYC month and registered agent contact information.
•
 Select “Business Filing History” to view additional information including information on annual report filings and other filing actions.
