Tenneessee Trivia
The State Flag - Adopted in 1905, the Tennessee state flag is crimson, blue and white, and features three stars representing the grand divisions of the state: East, Middle and West.
The State Bird - The mockingbird was chosen as the state bird in 1933. It sings a melodious song and is noted for its skill in mimicking other birds.
The State Insects - Tennessee has two official state insects: the ladybug and the firefly. The lady bug is reddish-orange in color with distinctive black spots on its wings. The firefly emits a form of luminescent light on summer evenings.
The State Tree - The tulip poplar was chosen as the state tree in 1947. The tree, which has tulip-like flowers, can grow to be 200 feet high and its wood was used by pioneers to build homes and barns.
