Task ForceMiles BurdineBurdine is president and CEO of the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, one of the largest business organizations in the state with nearly 1,000 members. Burdine is a member of the Tennessee Business Roundtable and serves on the board of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Burdine also is active in the Marine reserves and most recently served in Iraq as a liaison between the U.S. military and the Al Anbar government. Phil ChamberlainChamberlain is vice president and secretary of the Home Builders Association of Tennessee (HBAT), a statewide nonprofit organization that helps promote model green home building guidelines developed by the National Association of Home Builders. Chamberlain is vice president and partner of Chamberlain & McCreery Inc., a Cordova-based general contracting company licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi. Dana ChristensenChristensen is associate director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), heading up the Energy and Engineering Sciences Directorate. Among other responsibilities, Christensen oversees the lab’s activities in areas such as energy efficiency, renewable energy concepts, transportation, electricity distribution, fossil energy, and nuclear technology. Prior to joining ORNL, he was principal associate laboratory director for threat reduction at Los Alamos National Laboratory, N.M. Elizabeth EasonEason is chair of the East Tennessee Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, a nationwide nonprofit organization that developed LEED, a voluntary national rating system to support sustainable building practices. Eason, who also serves on Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam’s Energy & Sustainability Task Force, is an architect who specializes in projects involving sustainable design, historic restoration, and adaptive reuse. V. Lynn EvansEvans is chairman of MLGW, the nation’s largest three-service public power utility, which serves more than 420,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County. Evans, who also is a director of Memphis-based First Alliance Bank, is a certified public accountant whose firm provides audit and management consulting services to small businesses, nonprofit organizations, local governmental units, and the legal community. Jack HolderHolder is a board member of the Tennessee Valley Industrial Committee (TVIC), a group of large industrial companies that buy electricity directly from TVA. Holder, who is a member of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry, serves as the Counce site manager for Packaging Corp. of America, a major manufacturer of containerboard and corrugated packaging. Kalee KreiderKreider is communications director and environmental policy advisor to former Vice President Al Gore. Kreider, who has a decade of experience dealing with energy issues, previously managed the Washington office of Fenton Communications, a public interest communications and advocacy firm. Earlier in her career, she worked for federal agencies including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Senator Rosalind KuritaKurita is speaker pro tempore of the Tennessee State Senate and represents Cheatham, Houston and Montgomery counties. Kurita serves as vice chair of the Senate General Welfare, Health and Human Resources Committee, and sits on other influential committees including Finance, Ways and Means. Kurita, a sponsor of key energy-related legislation, has served in the General Assembly since 1997. John NoelNoel is president of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, a Knoxville-based nonprofit organization that promotes responsible energy choices to ensure clean, safe and healthy communities across the Southeast region. Noel, a Middle Tennessee businessman and preservationist, serves on the boards of numerous local, state and national organizations including the Climate Institute, Washington D.C. Emily ReynoldsReynolds is senior vice president for communications, government and valley relations for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the nation’s largest public power company, which provides power to 8.8 million residents in the Tennessee Valley. Among other responsibilities, Reynolds oversees government affairs in TVA’s seven-state region. She previously served as secretary of the U.S. Senate under former Majority Leader Bill Frist. Michael VandenberghVandenbergh is professor of law and co-director of the Vanderbilt Law School Regulatory Program. He also leads the Vanderbilt Climate Change Research Network. Vandenbergh, a former chief of staff for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, conducts research on the environmental behaviors of individuals and organizations. Formerly, he was a partner in the law firm of Latham & Watkins. Representative Les WinninghamWinningham is a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives and represents Clay, Jackson, Pickett, Scott and Anderson counties. Winningham serves as chair of the House Education Committee and also sits on the House Transportation Committee. Winningham has served in the General Assembly since 1985. |
