Governor Phil Bredesen and the Tennessee General Assembly have authorized funding for a Physician Connectivity Grant to accelerate the use of health information technology at the point of care, and ultimately, to improve the quality of health care available to Tennesseans.
The State will reimburse actual costs not to exceed $3500 per Tennessee licensed physician and $2500 per APN and PA prescriber. Specifically, the funds per prescriber can be used for equipment, software and services required to connect to the Tennessee eHealth Network, the state's private and secure network. Connectivity to and authentication on the Tennessee eHealth Network is also covered under the grant and will be paid directly by the State (one year).
The intention is that these state funds will seed the advancement of technical infrastructure in Tennessee's health care community with additional contributions from the community and other stakeholders.
