Mark Frisse, MD, MS, MBA
Vanderbilt University
Mark Frisse is a professor of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University. Working through the office of the Governor of the State of Tennessee, he directs a federal- and state-sponsored health information exchange in the greater Memphis area with over 1 million records covering the care of over 800,000 individuals. He is active in a number of Markle Foundation efforts and is a participant in the RWJ Project HealthDesign initiative. Dr. Frisse has worked in the academic sector, in consulting, and in pharmacy benefits management. He serves on the Board of SureScripts, LLC.
A graduate of Notre Dame, Washington University, and Stanford, Dr. Frisse is a board certified internist trained in hematology-oncology. He was Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean at the Washington University School of Medicine. He served as VP and Chief Medical Officer at Express Scripts and later as VP at First Consulting Group. Active in a wide range of technology and policy issues at the local, state, and national level, Dr. Frisse authored over 50 scientific publications.
