Background
Tennessee.gov is the collaboration of Finance and Administration, Office for Information Resources (OIR), and NIC USA Inc., Tennessee Information Division, a private company. This partnership was formed to allow Tennessee.gov to work with government entities across the state, and to bring more services online, thus providing new and efficient ways to interact with state government.
Tennessee.gov’s business model allows the State of Tennessee to provide a wealth of eGovernment services. It is a government service administered for the good of the public, while benefiting from the entrepreneurial spirit and efficiencies found in private business - a true Public-Private Partnership.

Highlights
This was one of the the first designs for the official Web site of the State of Tennessee. In the early days of eGovernment, Tennessee was one of the few states that had a portal links organized by topics, such as Public Safety or Vacationing, rather than by agency listing.

Highlights
In 2001, Tennessee's first large-scale portal jumped in rank to 4th in Brown University's annual survey of state e-government performance, making it the most improved state site, and the next year it was ranked 1st. In both 2001 and 2002 it was a Best of the Web finalist.
